  • Realme 11 Pro+

The Realme 11 Pro+ launched in India in June 2023 at Rs 27,999 for 8 GB and 256 GB, alongside the 11 Pro. It shares the same luxury-inspired vegan leather design and curved display, but upgrades the camera system and charging speed to compete with the Redmi Note 12 Pro+.

Its 200 MP Samsung HP3 main sensor with OIS is the headline feature and supports up to 4x in-sensor zoom with good results. An 8 MP ultrawide and 2 MP macro complete the setup, and the front camera is a 32 MP sensor. The Dimensity 7050 is the same as in the 11 Pro, adequate for daily use but not for heavy gaming. The 5,000 mAh battery charges at 100 W.

Rivals included the Redmi Note 12 Pro+, the OnePlus Nord CE3, the iQOO Neo 7 and the Nothing Phone (1). The iQOO Neo 7 offered much better performance, while the Redmi had a similar 200 MP pitch. The 11 Pro+ appealed most to camera and design-conscious buyers. Gamers are better served elsewhere.

  • Realme 11 Pro

Realme launched the 11 Pro in India in June 2023 at Rs 23,999 for 8 GB and 128 GB. Design was a major focus: the phone has a curved display and a vegan leather back with a large circular camera module, inspired by luxury travel luggage, giving it a premium feel at a mid-range price.

The 6.7-inch curved AMOLED runs at 120 Hz with full HD+ resolution. Performance comes from the Dimensity 7050, which is fine for everyday use and casual gaming but not a powerhouse. The 100 MP main camera with OIS produces detailed photos with good colour, but the only other rear camera is a 2 MP depth sensor, so there is no ultrawide. The 5,000 mAh battery charges at 67 W.

Rivals included the Redmi Note 12 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy M34, the iQOO Z7 Pro and the Motorola Edge 40 Neo. The iQOO Z7 Pro offered similar specs with a faster chip, while the Motorola had IP68. The Realme 11 Pro's appeal was largely its design and curved display. Those who want an ultrawide should look elsewhere.

  • OnePlus 11R

The OnePlus 11R launched in India in February 2023 at Rs 39,999 as a more affordable sibling to the OnePlus 11. It shared the flagship's circular camera styling and alert slider but used the previous-generation Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which was still one of the fastest chips available at the time.

The 6.74-inch curved AMOLED runs at 120 Hz with a 1240 x 2772 resolution, sharper than typical full HD panels. Performance is excellent for gaming and multitasking, and the 8+ Gen 1 runs cooler than the original 8 Gen 1. The 50 MP Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS produces reliable photos, while the 8 MP ultrawide and 2 MP macro are filler. A 5,000 mAh battery charges at 100 W, reaching full in about 25 minutes.

It competed with the iQOO Neo 7 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy A54, the Xiaomi 12 Pro discounted and the Nothing Phone (2), which arrived later. The Galaxy A54 offered IP67 and longer updates, while the 11R was faster and charged much quicker. The lack of an IP rating was its main weakness.

  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G

The Note 14 Pro 5G launched in India in December 2024 at Rs 23,999. Xiaomi moved the curved display and IP68 protection, previously reserved for the Pro+, down into the Pro model, and gave it a squarer camera surround that makes it look distinct from the Note 13 Pro. It also ships with HyperOS rather than MIUI.

Its Dimensity 7300 Ultra is efficient and fast enough for most users, handling multitasking and popular games at medium-to-high settings. The 6.67-inch curved 1.5K AMOLED screen is bright and smooth. Xiaomi dropped the 200 MP sensor in favour of a 50 MP Sony LYT-600 with OIS, a trade that improves consistency more than outright detail. The 5,500 mAh battery lasts well past a day on 45 W charging.

In this segment it faced the Realme 14 Pro, the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, the Poco X7 and the OnePlus Nord CE4. The Edge 50 Fusion offered a similarly premium curved design, and the Nord CE4 faster charging. The Note 14 Pro's advantage is the combination of a tough IP68 build and long battery life at a fair price.

  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G

The Note 13 Pro+ 5G arrived in January 2024 as the most premium Redmi Note yet. Xiaomi gave it a curved 1.5K AMOLED display, a vegan-leather option in its Fusion colourways, and an IP68 rating, a first for the Note line. At Rs 31,999 it competed directly with phones that had traditionally sat a class above Redmi.

Performance comes from the Dimensity 7200 Ultra, a solid upper mid-range chip that runs games smoothly at moderate settings and stays efficient. The 200 MP main camera uses a larger sensor than the Note 13 Pro's and delivers good dynamic range, although the ultrawide and macro remain basic. The 5,000 mAh battery charges at 120 W, reaching full in about 20 minutes, and the curved screen makes the phone feel slimmer in hand.

Its main rivals were the Realme 12 Pro+, which offered a 3x periscope zoom, the OnePlus Nord 3 with a stronger Dimensity 9000, and the Motorola Edge 40. The Note 13 Pro+ stands out on durability and charging speed, but lacks a telephoto camera and drops the headphone jack that the cheaper Note models keep.

  • Oppo F27 Pro+

Oppo launched the F27 Pro+ in India in June 2024, highlighting durability above all. It was marketed as the first phone in India with IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings and also carried an MIL-STD-810H certification and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It targeted buyers who wanted a tough yet stylish phone, competing with the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, Realme 12 Pro and Vivo T3.

The 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display at 120Hz is bright and vivid, and the phone looks slimmer than many rugged rivals. The Dimensity 7050 handles daily tasks and light gaming comfortably but is not a gaming chip. ColorOS 14 on Android 14 is smooth and offers useful features, though some reviewers felt the price was high for the performance on offer.

The 64 MP main camera captures decent daylight photos, but the 2 MP depth sensor adds little and there is no ultrawide. The 8 MP selfie camera is basic for the price. The 5,000 mAh battery with 67W charging lasts a full day. Against the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, it offered stronger water resistance, while Motorola had a better camera system and cleaner software.

  • Oppo F25 Pro

Oppo launched the F25 Pro in India in February 2024 as an offline-friendly mid-range phone that brought Reno-style design to a lower price. Its slim profile, curved display and bold Lava Red finish were its main appeal. It competed with the Vivo V29e, Realme 12 Pro and Redmi Note 13 Pro.

The 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display at 120Hz is bright and smooth, giving the phone a premium look. The Dimensity 7050 handles everyday tasks, streaming and casual games well, though it is not built for heavy gaming. IP65 dust and water protection was rare at this price. ColorOS 14 on Android 14 offered a polished interface with useful features and limited bloatware compared with some rivals.

The 64 MP main camera captures good daylight photos, with an 8 MP ultrawide and 2 MP macro alongside. The 32 MP selfie camera is a strong point. The 5,000 mAh battery with 67W charging lasts a full day. Against the Realme 12 Pro, it offered better water resistance, while Realme had a periscope telephoto camera at a similar price.

  • Oppo Reno 12

Oppo launched the Reno 12 in India in July 2024 with a strong emphasis on AI features, including AI Eraser, AI Best Face and AI Clear Face for photo editing. It used MediaTek's Dimensity 7300 Energy chip and a slim curved design. Rivals included the Vivo V40, Samsung Galaxy A35 and Motorola Edge 50 Fusion.

The 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display at 120Hz is bright and colourful. The Dimensity 7300 Energy offers efficient everyday performance, though it is not built for heavy gaming. IP65 protection against water jets is a useful addition. ColorOS 14.1 on Android 14 brings Oppo's AI tools, which work well for removing unwanted objects and fixing blinks in group shots.

The 50 MP main camera with OIS, 8 MP ultrawide and 2 MP macro take reliable photos, though the telephoto lens from the Reno 11 was dropped. The 32 MP selfie camera is good. The 5,000 mAh battery with 80W charging lasts a full day. Against the Vivo V40, it offered more AI editing tools, while Vivo had better cameras and higher water resistance.

It targeted buyers in the 40,000 rupee range who prioritised portrait photography and design, competing with the OnePlus 12R, Vivo V29 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A55.

The 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display at 120Hz is sharp and vibrant, though the OnePlus 12R offered a brighter, sharper LTPO panel. Dimensity 8200 provides strong performance for gaming and multitasking. The slim body and pearl-like finish on the white variant were highlights. ColorOS 14 on Android 14 felt smooth and offered useful customisation options.

The 50 MP Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS, 32 MP 2x telephoto and 8 MP ultrawide deliver excellent portraits, and the 32 MP selfie camera is strong. The 4,600 mAh battery with 80W charging gets through a day but is smaller than rivals.
